How to service your Classic ToasterUpdated 10 months ago

Dualit's Classic Toasters are known for being strong and robust, having originally been designed to withstand the demands of commercial kitchens. They work hard, but everyone needs a bit of TLC from time to time and your Classic Toaster is no different.

If your Classic Toaster isn't working quite as well as it used to or needs repair, then you can arrange a service with one of our engineers. Send your toaster to our factory in West Sussex and we will inspect it and provide you with a quote for repair that we will agree with you before we carry out any work. If this sounds like something your Classic Toaster needs, read on to find out exactly what to do.

Step 1: A few things to check first

Before you return your Classic Toaster, we ask that you check the following points first, as they are common reasons why toasters can stop working properly:

  • 1) Is the fuse working? The fuse is located in the plug; if it has stopped working, it can easily be replaced.
  • 2) If your toast is browning unevenly, have you checked that the slot selector is at the right setting? Selecting the incorrect setting is one of the most common causes of uneven toasting. Have you tried preheating the toaster first?
  • 3) Have you called our Customer Service team to run through some troubleshooting ideas?

If you have tried these points, the next step is to get your toaster ready to return.

Step 2: Pack up your toaster

Find a suitable sized box to pack your toaster in. Make sure you use plenty of good packing material, so that your toaster is well protected and cannot be damaged during transit. The plug should be fully wrapped so that the pins cannot dent the toaster. Remember to place protective packaging around all sides of the toaster including on top and underneath before sealing the box.

IMPORTANT: It is essential that you include a note inside the box with your contact details (name, return address, telephone number and an email address where possible) so that we can contact you when we have inspected your toaster. Without this, we have no way of returning your toaster to you. Please also give a brief description of any issues with your toaster.

Send your toaster to us via your local Post Office or arrange for a courier to collect from your home or place of work. The address is Repairs Department, Dualit Ltd, County Oak Way, Crawley, West Sussex RH11 7ST. We recommend that you use a recorded delivery service as proof of posting is not proof of receipt.

Step 3: What Dualit will do

When your toaster arrives at Dualit, it will be carefully unpacked and passed to one of our experienced engineers. Please note; we will not acknowledge receipt of your item when it arrives. After it has been inspected, we will contact you and give you a cost for repairing your toaster and leaving it in perfect working order.

If you decide to go ahead with the service, we will need to take a payment so our engineers can get started. The service should be complete and your toaster ready to be returned to you within 15 working days from booking in.

If you can provide us with a mobile number our courier, will contact you on the day of delivery with a delivery time slot.

If you decide not to repair your toaster, we can return it to you if you wish.

All parts fitted or work carried out by Dualit will be covered by a 12 month guarantee.
