Question:

Can the Ecopress for Duo Max be used for all types of coffee capsule?

Answer:

No. The Ecopress for Duo Max can only be used with aluminium coffee capsules compatible with the Nespresso domestic 'drop through' machine system . 

Question:

Why do you have to clean the empty capsule with tap water to remove last coffee residue. Isn't that a waste of water?    

Answer:

We recommend to use discarded washing up water rather than use fresh water. It is more hygienic to store and recycle clean aluminium rather than capsules with coffee residue.

Question:

Why do I need to wash the capsules? I assume that the aluminium will be heated for recycling purposes anyway where the coffee residue would be burnt away.    

Answer:

Coffee grounds are classed as food waste and therefore fall under a different recycling category. If too much of the grounds are left in the capsules then this may disrupt the recycling process.

Question:

Nespresso capsules have a plastic / silicone coating on the inside, which I’m worried would make these not suitable for household recycling collections.    

Answer:

Indeed, it is true that some aluminium Nespresso compatible capsules as well as Nespresso's own capsules, do contain a layer of silicone. However, the amount of silicone is small and it burns off during the heated recycling process. Alternatively, you could use Dualit capsules as we do not use a silicone layer in ours.
