Question:
Why is my toaster not working?
Answer:
1. Check the toaster is plugged in.
2. Check if the 'neon' is glowing red.
If yes, your elements or 'selector' switch may need replacing.
If no, your plug fuse may have blown or your timer may need replacing.
Question:
I get uneven toasting
Answer:
1. Whenever possible, ensure you have loaded all active slots
2. Ensure size and type of bread being loaded is the same
3. Empty but active slots will still generate heat and some of that heat may be transferred to the adjacent slot. This can therefore caused increased toasting on that side of the bread.
Question:
My toast doesn't pop up when the toaster has finished
Answer:
1. If the power neon remains illuminated, immediately unplug the toaster and call service centre.
2. Your bread may be too thick: Slices thicker than 36mm will get stuck, hand cut slices must be cut evenly, using a 'sandwich cage' can make toasting thicker items easier.
Question:
One side of my bread is not toasting
Answer:
If set to bagel setting only one side will toast. Press the bagel button to cancel the setting. Remember to insert bread from the very left hand slot.
Question:
Smoke coming out of the slots
Answer:
1. If this is the first time using your toaster, this is normal, your elements are being conditioned. This will dissipate after a few uses.
2. The crumb tray might be full. A build up of crumbs can burn or cause a fire. Empty the crumb tray.
3. Some crumbs or pieces of bread may be stuck in the toaster. Unplug, remove the crumb tray then turn the toaster upside down over a sink or bin and gently shake the crumbs out.
